A distributed exhibition reaching more than 900,000 visitors.

Maximall Pompeii in Torre Annunziata was transformed into a distributed exhibition space. Seventeen large-scale works and four art videos displayed on the enormous LED walls were distributed throughout the entire complex, taking the project beyond the boundaries of the museum and into the spaces of everyday life. Visited by more than 10,000 people each day, the centre enabled the exhibition to reach over 900,000 people in just over three months. Events, screenings and guided tours accompanied the exhibition, bringing Napoli Explosion back to the Vesuvian territory that constitutes its origin, landscape and material.

Four hundred square metres of moving images.

Art videos extended Napoli Explosion beyond the photographic dimension, transforming the entire complex into a vast visual space. The main LED wall, positioned at the entrance, measured approximately 30 metres wide and 6 metres high; other monumental screens, some almost 28 metres long, displayed the images across the outdoor areas and the events square.

Seventeen works suspended in space.

The seventeen large-scale works were not gathered in a single room, but distributed and suspended throughout the vast spaces of Maximall Pompeii. Raised above the ground and freed from the wall, they entered directly into the visitors’ field of vision, accompanying their movement through the building.
