You have to look at these images for a long time, immerse yourself in them. The great danger is that they blind you. They are so rich, so brilliant that it’s a bit like staring at the sun with your naked eyes. In a lightbox this effect is amplified, because—like the sun—the work does not receive light: it emits it. The viewer stands before a source of radiance. The eye hesitates: is it seeing a photograph, colors, or an irradiation? This dazzle is not merely an optical reaction: it is the direct consequence of the explosion of color. Yellow, red, blue are born here from the same phenomenon as luminous blindness—light too powerful to be tamed, too intense to be fully perceived.
